SUMMER TO-DO LIST:
Make use of some of the many books that I keep buying! =D
Since the Little Guy is miserably sick, we’ve been having a rather low-key 4th of July weekend.
While I’ve been keeping my poor sick boy company, I decided to make use of the origami book I bought back in March.
Hmmm, the origami animals are cute, but not as quick to fold as I thought they would be. First thing I discovered: each animal requires 3 square sheets of paper, one for the head, one for the front of the body and one for the rear. Of course I would have easily discovered this when I bought the book if I had thumbed through the diagrams inside it, ha ha. Or read the back cover. =P
Given that each origami tiger had 3 origami pieces, and each origami tree had 4 pieces, I decided to mount them all and make an origami collage. If you look at the front cover of the book, the animals are all in a stand-up display…..which is possible, but I suspect the author had to use some adhesive……no way my tiger heads were going to stay on their bodies without dabs of glue! Each time Little Guy grabbed the tigers, they fell apart!
I don’t know how much use I will get out of the book at school…..it’s a book geared for beginners, but the origami folds may be a bit difficult for first graders, they could probably only fold the animal heads.
This origami is not for the hardcore origami aficionado who enjoys folding something out of a single sheet of paper without the use of adhesive….
still some cute origami nevertheless!
